Virginia Beach VA (2/24/08) At approx 2015 hrs an off duty Hampton Fire LT was driving on S. Independence Blvd when he noticed a townhouse on fire. He called 911 to report the fire, and at the same time multiple other 911 calls were coming in as well. Upon arrival of the first due Engine Company, a working fire was reported. An initial attack team entered the structure while the rest of the working fire dispatch was responding. An aggressive interior attack limited the fire to the initial townhouse w/ minimal damage to the surrounding structures. Fire crews brought the fire under control in approx 20 minutes. VA Beach EMS treated 1 victim at the scene for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries reported on scene. The fire is under investigation by the VA Beach FD, and VA Beach Police Dept.
