Virginia Beach, VA (1/7/08) at approx 1930 hours Division 5 reported via radio to dispatch an over turned auto with confirmed entrapment at the intersection of Holland Road and Thomas Nelson Road in the 3rd battalion. Ladder 16 was first to arrive, and set up for extrication. The vehicle was stablized and with the help of Fire Squad 3 the Jaws of Life were put in service. L-16 lowered the roof to gain access to the patient. It was determined that the driver of the vehicle suffered from a medical condition, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured, and was transported to the local trauma center. The accident is under investigation by the VA Beach PD. There were no other reported injuries on scene.
